Back in Print: Life in the Garden

Life in the Garden, the interactive paper book I created with Nancy Nowacek, is back in print! (Actually, the original publisher found several crates of the book and you can purchase them here on Amazon.)

A meditation on the Garden of Eden myth, Life in the Garden is a book where you shuffle the pages and create a new story every time. Like a surrealist language game in reverse, Life in the Garden creates a coherent story every time you play. With more than 50 pages, each printed with a unique illustration, the possibilities are vast.

  1. Your book, in providing illustrations and text to enable the reader to creatively _recast_ the Garden of Eden story actually follows in a long line of earlier recastings of some 3000 years. Some PhD scholars have opined that Mesopotamian myths about how man came to be created have been recast by the Hebrews in the Book of Genesis. The Mesopotamians understood that the gods created man to care for their city-gardens in the Edin, the plain between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Man would feed the gods the produce of their gardens, ending their having to toil for their food. The gods denied man the knowledge of good and evil denying him at first the knowledge it was wrong to be naked. They also denied immortality. Man’s sinfulness and rebelliousness to the gods is also explained. My two books cover this subject, available at Amazon (2010), (1) Eden’s Serpent, Its Mesopotamian Origins, (2) The Garden of Eden Myth, Its Pre-biblical Origin in Mesopotamian Myths. My website http://www.bibleorigins.net also cover the subject.
